New campaign seeks 1,000 Teachers to Join IIE’s Generation Study Abroad.
Join the Institute of International Education (IIE) on Thursday, January 29 at 12:00 EST to learn how K-12 teachers can get involved with Generation Study Abroad.
Educators can now take advantage of a new free, online, self-paced, professional development opportunity to help them globalize history curricula. Globalizing the US History Survey allows participants to infuse their courses with global perspectives while gaining experience, contributing to a collaborative knowledge base, and receiving continuing education credits.
Asia Society Partnership for Global Learning launched a three month a blog series last month on Education Week that examines the last ten years of global competence in the United States, including internationalization of teacher preparation. 
Educators across the spectrum must be provided the opportunity to consider their own level of intercultural competence in order to teach these skills to students and future teachders. The Global Learning in Agricultural Conference at the Pennsylvania State University provides one such opportunity.
GTE was mentioned as a prime resource in a new e-report titled "EdTech: Revolution in Education." 
The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by IIE, seeks to improve mutual understanding among teachers, their schools and communities in the U.S. and abroad.
In order to help teachers and teacher educators better understand what globally competent teaching looks like in practice, a research team from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill launched an interactive online tool last month.  The Globally Competent Teaching Continuum (GCTC) is a free, intended as a self-reflection tool , and includes descriptions, lesson plans, and videos that illustrate the 12 elements of globally competent educators – including dispositions, knowledge, and skills.
World Savvy, Teachers College at Columbia University, and Asia Society Partnership for Global Learning have partnered to bring global competence to in-service educators through an online certificate program.  After several years of planning and preparation, the program is preparing to admit its first cohort of educators this fall.  Teacher educators should encourage globally minded teachers seeking to expand their global skills to apply.
