OUR COMMITMENT TO PRIVACY
- What information we collect
- Why we collect that information
- How we use the information we collect and
- Your choices regarding how to access and update information.
INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT
Non-Personally Identifiable Information. Like many websites, we may automatically collect information about how visitors use the Services. We cannot personally identify you through this automatically-collected information.
Personal Information. “Personal Information” is information that could be used to personally identify you, such as your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, credit card information, the frequency of your use of the Services, the route you use to access the Site, and your configuration settings. We may collect Personal Information about you from the following sources:
- Information you provide to us through your registration as a GTEI member, including your name, mailing address, email address and phone number, as well as any information you voluntarily provide us with your registration, including any credit card information you provide in connection with making a donation on the Site; and
- Information you provide to us when you contact us through the “Contact” link on the Site or similar support or support services, which may include your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and any other information you voluntarily include with your correspondence.
HOW WE USE THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Use of Non-Personal Information. Like many websites, we may automatically gather certain technical information about your visit to the Site, inter alia your use of the Services, the configuration of your computer, and how your computer interacts with the Site. This information includes the internet domain from which you access the Site, the IP address of the computer from which you access the Site, the browser type, the date and time you access the Site, and the URLs of the individual pages you visit. This automatically gathered data may include information provided through the use of “cookies”, which we describe in more detail below. We store this information in log files, and use it to provide the Services, understand traffic and downloads on the Site, provide technical support, administer the Site, and improve the Site’s functionality and user experience.
Cookies and Similar Files. When you use the Site, we may store some information on your computer in the form of a “cookie” or similar file. “Cookies” are small data text files that are either used for the duration of a session (“session cookies”) or saved on a user’s hard drive in order to identify that user the next time he or she logs on to the Site (“persistent cookies”). We may use session cookies to identify users logging onto the Site, and these cookies are deleted from the user’s server soon after the session ends and are not collected or saved. We may use persistent cookies to recognize you when you return to the Site, store user preferences, and analyze user behavior so that we can better understand how the Site is used and improve the functionality, performance and effectiveness of the Site and user experience. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser’s settings to prevent that or to notify you when a cookie is being placed on your browser. Because each browser is different, you should look at your browser’s “Help” menu to learn how to modify these settings. If you do disable cookies, you may not be able to access certain sections of the Site or use all of the Services, and this may make your experiences on the Site less efficient.
Use of Personal Information. We do not attempt to obtain any Personal Information from visitors to the Site until you choose to provide such information to us, such as by sending us an email or becoming a registered GTEI member.
If you contact us in the manner provided on the “Contact” link, we will use the information to respond to your message and to help us provide you the information or services that you have requested. We may keep a record of any correspondence for internal record-keeping purposes.
When you register as a GTEI member, we will use the Personal Information you provide us in order to establish your account so that you can utilize the Services. For example, we will use your name and email address in order to establish your contact information within our database, and if you choose to make a donation on the Site, we will use your credit card information to process your payment.
We may access or view your activity and will use this information to provide the Services, backups, file comparisons, quality control and technical support.
HOW WE MAY SHARE INFORMATION
Sharing of Personal Information. We will share your Personal Information with third parties only in any of the following limited circumstances:
- We will share Personal Information if we have your express “opt-in” consent to do so.
- We may provide Personal Information to our affiliates, or other trusted service providers who use that information only to conduct business on our behalf. For example, they may handle our data management and email distribution. We provide our preferred service providers only with the information they need to perform their services, and work with them to respect and protect your Personal Information.
We do not sell the Personal Information we collect about you through the Site to anyone for any purpose.
Asset Transfers. We continue to develop our business and in doing so might choose to buy or sell businesses or assets. In any purchase or sale of a business or assets, Personal Information and non-personally identifiable information may be transferred.

In order to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of any Personal Information you provide to us, we have put into place standard physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. As a result, while we believe that we use reasonable measures to protect Personal Information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted or otherwise provided to us or received from us.
